Grandparents of Cortes Island
Cortes Children and their Grandparents
Most of our seniors are grandparents. Some of their grand children live on Cortes Island, some of them live further away. When we see the grandparents with their grandchildren, they always shine. We asked the principles of our schools, to do a project that involved grandparents.
Linnaea School has finished the project. Each child wrote a story about a favourite time with a grandparent and there are illustrations to go with this
Other activities include a wonderful photo board of grandparents and the kids have written the names they call their grandparents and posted them beside their photos. They each have read several books on grandparents and done book reports. They wrote thank you letters to the grandparents they interviewed. All their work is compiled into Grandparent books that they took home at the end of the unit.
Each child also interviewed a grandparent. Below is the list of answers to their
question: 'What advice would you give me to help me in my life?'
